i thought this was a nice, relatively spoiler-free page with which to do this. i was a bit bored working on circle so i decided to share my method of working with everyone.
this uses page 3 from chapter 18 of circle (18 freaking chapters now!!! and still two more to go >:C). as you can see, ermine has grown up since the first 3 chapters i posted. in this chapter he's (supposed to be) 17 years old.
if anyone has any questions about how to use this program or something, do comment and ask. 185 pages of circle has taught me a few things.
the most important being this program can and WILL freeze every five minutes, so save. every two minutes. for serious.
I was interested in maybe a program like this, so it's funny that you posted walkthrough for it. Some things I'm wondering though... why does it crash ever 5 mins? Is it just wonky like that with certain OS, or not enough ram, etc, or do you not know? And everything you described looks like it can all pretty much be done in photoshop or illustrator. What's the upside to using this program over photoshop or illustrator (minus the pattern thingies)? Thanks
i think it's something to do with my RAM, actually. that, and the program is a bit sensitive generally. see, it's fine if you're using just the manga program, then it will keep going for hours without crashing. but, if you have photoshop or an internet browser, or a media player open at the same time, if you try and switch between windows, then at least half of the time it will crash. but it might just be my computer *shrug*
about being able to do it in photoshop and illustrator, i don't think that's quite true. manga studio is specifically designed for drawing comics, so everything in it is also designed for the final print, with the right DPI and bleed and so on. all of the pen tools seem to imitate a real kind of pen (e.g. brush pens, spoon pens, school pens), so i find that it's really easy to get the drawings to look like my actual pencil drawings, whereas on photoshop my style always seems to come out...different
anyway, i hope that helps. man, i sound like i'm working for this company or something but i'm not haha! it's waaay cheaper than photoshop and illustrator as well though x_x jeeez, some of those Adobe programs...
It makes more sense now that you explained about the settings and the pen options. I thought it was just for drawing lines and text bubbles, but this seems much better. I'll keep all this info in mind when I do decide to give this program a shot. Thanks for the explanation!
